DSL

(Digital Subscriber Line) service is a proven technology that uses standard telephone lines to provide reliable, high-speed Internet access.  "Always-on," DSL provides high-speed Internet connectivity for websites, email, and other online applications and offers higher average speeds and fewer bottlenecks to slow you down.

Bandwave Systems places and configures a router on your premises that establishes the meeting point between the DSL line and your computer network (LAN).  When you transmit data from your desktop PC to the Internet, the router directs the data to pass over the DSL phone line to the nearby Central Office of your local telephone company.  At the Central Office, Bandwave connects the DSL line to an access device called a Digital Subscriber Line   Here your data is transmitted to our network and upstream to the Internet.

Bandwave Systems offers a range of different DSL technology types, each with unique upload or "send" and download or "receive" speeds.  Below is a quick overview of the different types of DSL.

            • ADSL – Asymmetric DSL splits resources to give you faster download speeds than upload speeds.

If you spend the majority of your time viewing websites and checking email, and less time sending files or running network applications, ADSL is your best choice.

            • ADSLPlus, this next-generation technology boosts the performance of ADSL broadband by dramatically enhancing bandwidth, offering greater data transfer rates with much faster download / upload speeds.

If your business faces a growing demand to support new bandwidth-intensive applications and services, ADSLPlus is the ideal choice.

            • Dedicated vs. Line-shared ADSL – Line-shared service is delivered over an existing or new telephone line and  supports simultaneous Internet access and telephone use. Dedicated service is delivered over a separate line  (not being used for telephone service) and is dedicated to Internet access service only.

• IDSL – ISDN DSL is a symmetrical technology providing equal upload and download speeds.

Generally recommended for users unable to obtain other DSL services at their location.

            • SDSL – Symmetrical DSL also offers equal download and upload speeds. It is ideally suited for users working with large files, network applications, or maintaining in-house email or Web servers.
